Doug Barnes Raffle website PDF Print E-mail

The Georgia Association of Woodturners has announced the Doug Barnes raffle website.  Here is the full announcement, found on their main website, www.gawoodturner.org:

Doug Barnes Memorial Raffle

As of Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 we are announcing the opening of the Doug Barnes Memorial Raffle site. This site hosted by the Georgia Association of Woodturners, however, the contents are the donated work of woodturners belonging to clubs across Georgia and some in South Carolina and Alabama.

Doug became Assistant Resident Woodturning Artist at John C. Campbell Folk School (JCC) in the mid '90's and in 2003 succeeded Willard Baxter as Resident Woodturning Artist again at JCC. He was the President of the Brasstown Woodturners Guild for the last several years and also managed the Southern States Woodturning Symposium in Gainesville for the last two years. Through his work in these capacities, he touched the lives of many woodturners in Georgia and across the nation and we feel that this is an ideal opportunity to commemorate those efforts while at the same time, in Doug's memory, improve the woodturning facility at JCC.

On the raffle site, you will find turned pieces contributed by some of the finest woodturners in Georgia. Please note that you are purchasing a raffle ticket (or tickets) which provides you a chance to win the piece and you are NOT purchasing the piece itself. The drawing will be held at the November 20, 2008 meeting of the Georgia Association of Woodturners (GAW) and winners will be notified as soon as possible after that meeting. In addition, a list of winners’ names and the piece they won will be listed on the GAW web site.

For pieces shipped to addresses within the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii, shipping will be paid by the woodturner who created the piece. All costs associated with shipping and delivery to addresses outside the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii will be the responsibility of the winner of that piece.

You may also donate to the fund without purchasing tickets. Donations are in increments of $5.00.

Payment is handled through PayPal and on the site you will also find step-by-step instructions on how to pay with a credit card or your PayPal account.

We encourage you to visit the raffle site at: http://www.gawoodturner.org/shop/zen-cart/
